Brief History

The MEE Program was designed by Dr. Dennis O’Brien and Dr. Boyko Nitzov in 1998-1999. It grew out of the many years of Dr. O’Brien’s involvement with the French Petroleum Institute (IFP). The first three students enrolled during the fall of 2001; two students from OU and one from IFP. So far the program has graduated 16 students from France, Belgium, Spain, Senegal, Nigeria, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Venezuela, Colombia, Bolivia, Argentina and the U.S.A.

The MEE program is within the Sarkeys Energy Center which is part of the College of Earth and Energy. The program is administered by the Institute for Energy & Economics Policy (IEEP), which is an institute within the Sarkeys Energy Center.

IEEP is an experienced facilitator and provider of strategic advice for energy organizations, boards and management.
