Comprehensive Exams

A passing grade on the Master of Arts (M.A.) Comprehensive Examination is required. The exam is a written test administered by an appointed faculty committee as agreed by the candidate and the MEE Director. The exam consists of three parts based on coursework at OU.

A question based on coursework at IFP may be substituted for one of the areas above by the students request and approved by the Examining Faculty Committee. The M.A. exam must be taken no later than the first semester after completion of the coursework. The examination may be retaken once. We recommend that the exam be taken within the last four weeks of the final semester of coursework.
