ENERGY INSTITUTE OF THE AMERICAS

The Energy Institute of the Americas (EIA) was chartered in May 1995 by the University of Oklahoma and Simon Bolivar University in Caracas, Venezuela, to address issues raised by the growing economic interdependency of the Americas.

The EIA, constituted by world-class universities, focuses on contributing to the formulation of hemispheric energy security, collaborative research agendas and human resources development. It achieves its mission through education, research, information exchange and helping solve practical problems.

With the exceptional leadership during the first six years by former US Ambassador Edwin G. Corr, the EIA has positioning itself as a source for training, research capabilities and business opportunities in the Western Hemisphere. Since 2001 the new Executive Director, Yoana Walschap, who was associated with the Institute since it’s establishment, has continue enhancing the program with a new and dynamic Board and External Advisors.
